100 Day Projects

A group of graduate students I am lucky enough to work with this semester have been working hard to complete a task each day for 100 days. This project caught my attention while reading Suleika Jaouad’s, The Book of Alchemy: A Creative Practice for an Inspired Life. She took a spin off Michael Bierut’s assignment for his graduate students, so I thought it would be fun to do the same.

As taught by most of my professional mentors, we, as teachers, should participate in the assignments we give students as a way to tap into process teaching points. To know what felt easy, tricky and what could be modified in the future. It is such an important piece to the pedogeological puzzle, but so many things sneak in and overtake our time we would want to allocate to do the work we are asking of our students.

For this assignment, I chose to incorporate two of my favorite things, stickers and writing. I found the perfect little notebook at the coolest little stationary shops in Lawrence, Kansas. It had 100 places for short, daily entries. I placed one sticker on each day and tried to write the first thing that came to mind. My hope is that these will serve as potential blog entries, letters to my children or topics of reflection for me to ponder.

We will be presenting the 100 Day Projects on April 29th. I look forward to sharing some of them with you. What would your 100 day project be?
